Surfing Grannys ride into bookstores with Granny Grommet and Me

Our coastlines have always been home to every kind of surfer, and now our books are letting us know that age is no barrier either. Granny Grommet and Me by author Dianne Wolfer and illustrator Karen Blair tells the story of a young swimmer afraid of the waves gaining confidence from watching their Grandma hitting the surf.

Dianne Wolfer and Karen Blair draw inspiration from the real life Granny Grommets surfing and boogie boarding in Albany, Western Australia. Their website shows the behind the scene on the creation of the book that illustrates the research and experience that went into this lovely story.

Joining Fiona Bartholomaeus, Wolfer and Blair talk about the process of writing and drawing as well as the feedback from the Granny Grommets.
