Hard Truths, One of Them Days and David Wenham Interview (Movie Squad Podcast #477)
Laura Blundell and Lucy Rutherford take over your airwaves for a special International Women’s Day edition of Movie Squad!
Having kicked Tristan Fidler and Simon Miraudo to the curb, Laura and Lucy crash the Breakfast studio to discuss two new films centered on women with Pamela Boland.
First up, Lucy leads a review of Hard Truths, the new film from Mike Leigh that sees him reunite with his Secrets and Lies star Marianne Jean-Baptiste. This time around, she plays Pansy, a ferocious and deeply depressed woman. Can she be brought back from the brink by her lively sister Chantelle (played by Michele Austin)?
We then move from sisters to besties with Laura reviewing One of Them Days, starring Keke Palmer and SZA as two friends on a day-long odyssey to pay their long overdue rent.
Both films are now showing in Australian cinemas.
Stay tuned for an extended pod-exclusive chat about Laura and Lucy’s favourite films by female directors. Then, Simon chimes in with an interview with David Wenham, the star and producer of the new Australian comedy Spit, also now in cinemas.
Be sure to tune in to RTRFM every Friday at 7:30am to hear Movie Squad live on Breakfast with Pam! And find out more about Movie Squad’s curation of Throwback Thursdays at Joondalup Festival in March!
