Ambulance & Happening (Movie Squad Podcast #69)

This week on the Movie Squad pod, Tristan Fidler and Simon Miraudo review two movies from both ends of the spectrum for Breakfast host Taylah Strano.

First up, Tristan delves into the latest from vulgar auteur Michael Bay, Ambulance, in which Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are subjected to some signature Bay-hem when their bank heist goes very wrong.

Then, Simon reviews Happening, a harrowing yet powerful and compelling French drama about a young woman seeking an abortion in early 1960s France (when abortion was a criminal act). Happening won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2021; the same top prize that went to Nomadland, Joker and Roma in years past.

Ambulance is now in cinemas and Happening arrives on big screens next week (14 April).
