Megalopolis and He Ain’t Heavy (Movie Squad Podcast #184)
This week’s episode of the Movie Squad didn’t cost $120 million or take four decades to make… but it still sounds like it did!
Tristan Fidler and Simon Miraudo reunite with Breakfast presenter Pamela Boland for an epic, career-defining instalment of their weekly podcast!
First up, Tristan leads a review of Francis Ford Coppola’s gargantuan and long-germinating fable (or folly?) Megalopolis, starring Adam Driver and Giancarlo Esposito as the warring architects of a new city. It’s now in cinemas.
Then, Simon offers an early review of the WA-shot drama He Ain’t Heavy, starring Leila George as a young woman who imprisons her addict brother (Sam Corlett) to forcibly get him clean. It also stars George’s real-life mother, Greta Scacchi, and was the recipient of four WA Screen Culture Awards in 2023.
He Ain’t Heavy debuts in cinemas on 17 October, with a special Q&A on Wednesday 16 October at Luna Cinemas Leederville.
Stay tuned for Tristan and Simon’s extended, pod-exclusive chat about Megalopolis and also Simon’s thoughts on The Substance!
