‘Biopics’ with Special Guest Adriane Daff (Movie Squad Podcast Episode #3)
Welcome to the third episode of the Movie Squad RTRFM Podcast with your hosts Simon Miraudo and Tristan Fidler, presenting your regular helping of movie chat, which you can subscribe to and download for your personal audio enjoyment! For this conversation specially recorded for the podcast, we are joined by actor, writer and theatre maker Adriane Daff from the theatre collective The Last Great Hunt (who have recently announced work premiering in the 2019 Perth Festival with Le Nor) to discuss the genre of Biopics! With the recent Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, scoring big at the box office (but not so much with critics), we discuss the Best and Worst of Biopics from the past decades, offering our own personal favourites, analysing what specifically defines a biopic, examining why its a genre that is a clear route to the Oscars for an actor, and mining all the pitfalls that can occur when portraying someone famous – all the prosthetics, accents, wigs, historical accuracy/inaccuracy, ‘print the legend’ myth-making, outdated codes of representation and much, much more! This is a fun, free-wheeling discussion that provides keen insights and big laughs! Enjoy!
