The Exorcism and Am I OK? (Movie Squad Podcast #170)
Simon Miraudo and Lucy Rutherford pair up this week (while Tristan Fidler is away on special assignment), to supply two steaming hot cups o’ film review for coffee-loving fill-in Brekky host Connor Kiss.
First up, Simon reviews The Exorcism, which is Russell Crowe‘s second exorcism-based movie in two years (though this one was filmed in 2019, before The Pope’s Exorcist). Written and directed by the son of Jason Miller (troubled star of The Exorcist), Crowe plays, ahem, the troubled actor taking on the Jason Miller role in a remake of The Exorcist. In cinemas now.
Then, Lucy checks out Am I OK?, directed by married comedians Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne, and starring Dakota Johnson as a woman who has her queerness awakened in her 30s after discovering her best friend might be moving away. Now streaming on Binge.
Keep listening for some pod-exclusive chatter, as Lucy shares her last four films on Letterboxd.
