Yarns with Stolen Mob

Presented by: Jim Morrison

Between 1905 and 1972, thousands of Aboriginal children in Western Australia were forcibly removed from their families.

It was systematically organised by the State.
And it was overwhelmingly supported by West Australian society.

For over sixty years, the State worked to destroy Aboriginal families, culture, and language, for the purpose of securing white, settler dominance.

It was never one stolen generation.
It was generation after generation.

Even today, 60% of children in out-of-home care are Aboriginal.

In this podcast, presented by Yokai and RTRFM, Stolen Generations Survivors give testimony of the isolation, abuse and humiliation they endured in the system. And each episode was recorded at Sister Kate’s, the mission where many were held, away from their families.

This is Yarns with Stolen Mob. Airing every Tuesday during On the Record from 15 September and then available as a podcast.

Produced with the assistance of the Community Broadcasting Foundation. Find out more at cbf.org.au.
