About

Get to know Dennis Gedling

When not drooling at the moon with donkey-like wonder I’m busy doing something next to nothing but different from the day before.

I first heard RTR FM in the early 90s through the very trippy and visceral show ‘Still Dreaming’ on a Tuesday night that myself and my token Welsh friend Mick found one night. From there RTR seemed to either to be a lot of either classic or electronic music to my young mind until finding stuff like Out to Lunch and Genge et al.

Radio is the greatest form of media and hopefully will be forever and a day. An informative theatre of mind for everyone. That’s one of the many reasons I love presenting and putting shows together along with hearing what others can conjure up. It feeds me! Sustains me! Defines me!

Away from radio I work in a Comms Role, procrastinate, play vets footy, write and lunch for the Footy Almanac, pontificate about most things, gigs, Roll a D20, put way too much faith in my happiness being delivered by sporting teams.

How did you become involved in the station?

I volunteered throughout the 90s whilst presenting radio elsewhere. I then got involved on-air in 2007 when I moved back to Perth and they needed someone to start up the late-night rock show ‘Brain Blood Volume’ then on to ‘Drivetime’ that I presented a long time and on to where I am now.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

Jonathan Richman in Belfast in the 2000s. He got people up on stage to take their shoes off and slide along the wooden floor stage like bored kids a wedding. We should all be more liken dear Jonathan.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

I can’t decide now that there isn’t Theatre Organ Time on a Sunday morning anymore.

Love music?

Love RTRFM.
