Kayli Bickers

I’ve had a lifelong deep interest in music, taking on my role as a punter from the age of 13. I started out at local punk and hardcore shows at Leederville HQ, before graduating to the front of the stage at indie rock gigs at Mojo’s, and eventually finding my place on the dancefloors of Boorloo’s club parties, occasionally stepping behind the decks myself.

Along the way, I’ve helped start an event series focused on curating local DJ line-ups, with a particular emphasis on supporting artists who are just starting out, as well as being part of collective party-throwing efforts around town and further afield. My tastes sit largely within electronic music — spanning leftfield techno, house, dub, and ambient but stretch outward to include dream pop, jazz, art rock, and post-punk. Anything weird, textural, or emotionally interesting tends to stick, and sharing music has become central to how I connect with it now. I’ve finally stopped hoarding my finds, and presenting on RTRFM feels like coming full circle from when I first discovered the station at 16.
