Bookclub with Danielle Raffaele: Annie Raser Rowland on Once

A young girl steals an axe and makes her own way in the world. Two children are fending for themselves in the forest.

These are images well known to readers of fairy tales and they form the basis of Once the new novel by local author Annie Raser Rowland.

It’s a story which weaves together classic fairy tales to tell a modern story of climate catastrophe and the often ghastly human impact.

For Book Club this week RTRFM’s Danielle Raffaele spoke to Annie about the creation of Once.
