Gender Pay Gaps Published by the WGEA

For the second time, the WGEA has published private sector employer gender pay gaps in Australia.

This data shows that while the gender pay gap is narrowing, it is doing so at a very slow rate, and the rate of change needs to be accelerated. Additionally, the data shows that age is a big factor in the pay gap, typically peaking in late 50s at 32.6%. Recently, the federal government has been talking up their efforts to reduce the gender pay gap, along with announcing $2.6 billion to fund a pay rise for aged care nurses.

Beth Mackiewicz talks to WGEA Chief Executive Officer Mary Wooldridge about this issue on On The Record.
