‘Joan Must Die* (*I Never Liked Her Anyway)’ at Hayman Theatre

Directed by Leah Mercer, Curtin Theatre Arts and the Hayman Theatre Company are excited to present the Western Australian premiere of Daniel Evans‘ 2023 play.

A blistering, funny and moving mashup of the story of Joan of Arc in a world where reality TV makes authenticity hard to find.

Joan Must Die* (*I Never Liked Her Anyway) is an urgent reimagining of an historical biography told with a contemporary pop culture sensibility. In a world where the “truth” depends on who gets to tell it Joan Must Die* asks how much we have changed. Highly theatrical, with most actors playing multiple characters, Joan Must Die* moves seamlessly between gritty realism, camp hijinks, sword play, a couple of dance numbers and across time and space.

Joan Must Die* will be showing from April, 9 till April, 13 at Hayman Theatre.
