Loneliness Leaves Impact On Older Australians Across All Ages

Loneliness…This feeling is something everyone will face at least once throughout their life.

However, recent studies indicated that one in four Australians living alone are feeling the impacts more greatly than others.

Furthermore, other research has unveiled that older Australians living in a residential aged care facility can potentially contribute to these feelings of loneliness and social isolation.

On The Record presenters Fiona Bartholomaeus and Taylah Strano are joined in the studio with Narelle Warren, who is an Associate Professor part of the School of Social Sciences within Monash University.

Together they discuss the effects that loneliness has on a person, including methods for combating the feeling of loneliness, and whether older individuals are truely feeling lonely than the rest of the Australian population.
