Memoir of a Snail is another stunning work from Adam Elliot

In the nineteenth century, Danish Philosopher Soren Kierkegaard believed that anxiety and despair were essential to the human experience … and that we must make choices based on free will despite our anxiety.

Kierkegaard said that ‘Life can only be understood backwards, but we have to live it forwards’, a quote that resonates with Australian filmmaker Adam Elliot – he’s even suggested it will be his epitaph, and as you watch his latest film, Memoir of a Snail, you’ll understand why.

Elliot won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short for Harvie Krumpet  in 2003 … and his latest tale of Grace Pudel’s life of ups and downs has kept him busy for the last eight years.  It is a tragi-comedy, sad and sweet with an emotional punch you might not expect from claymation.

RTRFMs Danae Gibson caught up with Adam Elliot in the middle of his busy promotion calendar.
