Rewind on RTRFM – 20 August 2021
It’s Radiothon week, but there were plenty of great interviews to choose from for this week’s Rewind.
First, we get a breakdown of the science behind the Moderna and Phizer vaccines, courtesy of a pioneering mRNA researcher. Archa Fox is a microbiologist who discovered one of the subnuclear proteins that make these vaccines possible. She gave Jeff Bullen the 411 on Monday’s On the Record.
Next up, we reminisce on the origins of RTRFM with the Federal Member for Freo, Josh Wilson. He was in the studio to spruik the Reclink Community Cup, a nationwide series of AFL games that pit the media against the musos. But Josh gave Fiona Bartholomaeus a fun and thorough oral history of the station – very fitting, given it’s a week for reflecting on our place in the community.
And finally, The Swing team had a huge chinwag with Sisonke Msimanga. She’s an activist, author, and political analyst now based at the Centre for Stories, and she was able to give us some perspective on the recent weeks of civil unrest in South Africa.
Rewind is RTRFM’s talks digest, a round-up of the station’s most notable stories. Each episode features three of the most thought-provoking, timely, or surprising pieces put to air – plus a quick overview of what’s been on our radar. For everything else, check out the features on our website – or tune in live on 92.1.
