Bicentenary or Bust – A Moorditj Mag Podcast Ep. 4

Welcome to a special Moorditj Mag series we’re calling BICENTENARY OR BUST.

Throughout the month of May in 2026, we’re reflecting on the 1826 invasion of what’s now known as Albany. This year marks two centuries of grief for WA’s Aboriginal peoples. It was the colonial settlements in Albany that paved the way to the establishment of the 1929 Swan River Colony in Boorloo, Perth.

This final instalment during Reconciliation Week features host Jodi Hoffmann catching up with Jim Morrison on the phone from Gnowangerup to reflect on Sorry Day. Then, we share Jim’s conversation with John Paul Janke, National Indigenous Affairs Editor & Host of The Point on NITV and SBS. They discussed some of the action that needs to be taken for reconciliation, as part of our Bicentenary or Bust reflections.

Next week’s Moorditj Mag will be hosted live from Raine Square, to celebrate the return of Maar Koodjal.

This seven-week program, running from Reconciliation Week to NAIDOC Week in July, features immersive First Nations art and interactive cultural experiences, including live music, dance, visual performances, storytelling, art exhibitions and fashion showcases.

Jim and Tony Hanson will be broadcasting a special two-hour program from 11am to 1pm, so go say hello Thursday 4 June at Raine Square.

Bicentenary or Bust was produced with the assistance of the Community Broadcasting Foundation. Find out more at cbf.org.au.
